Coast Guard Evacuates Carnival Passenger

The U.S. Coast Guard carried out a late-night medical evacuation of a passenger from Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Venezia while the ship was sailing off the coast of New Jersey.
Officials said the 73-year-old man experienced a medical emergency on Monday evening while the vessel was about 30 miles off Atlantic City. The ship had departed earlier that afternoon from New York City and was en route to the Eastern Caribbean for a nine-day voyage.
After receiving a distress call around 10 p.m., the Coast Guard launched a helicopter to meet the ship. At approximately 11:35 p.m., the passenger was airlifted and flown to an Atlantic City hospital for treatment.
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that its crew assisted with the transfer and that the operation was completed smoothly without affecting the itinerary. The ship resumed its scheduled course shortly after the evacuation.
Carnival Venezia, one of the cruise line’s Italian-inspired vessels, continues to operate itineraries from New York to destinations across the Caribbean and beyond. This latest incident underscores the close coordination between cruise lines and the Coast Guard to ensure passenger safety in emergency situations.
The successful evacuation highlights the importance of rapid response measures at sea, particularly for medical issues that require urgent land-based care. Passengers continued their Caribbean journey without interruption, while the rescued guest was transferred safely for medical attention.
