CommuteAir (C5), a US regional carrier operating on behalf of United Airlines, has welcomed its first Embraer E170 as part of its plans to expand passenger charter operations.

The newly acquired E170, registered as N780NC (manufactured serial number 17000280), was ferried to Houston Intercontinental on October 19, 2023, following maintenance in Saltillo. The 14.6-year-old aircraft, previously operated by Airnorth (Australia), was acquired by CommuteAir from Nordic Aviation Capital earlier this year.

CommuteAir, known for its extensive fleet of seventy-five E145s, all operated for United Airlines, aims to leverage the larger E170 to enhance its passenger charter services. The airline’s E145 fleet has been instrumental in serving regional routes on behalf of United Airlines.

While N780NC has not yet commenced revenue operations, its addition signifies CommuteAir’s commitment to fleet diversification and growth. The E170’s larger capacity and extended range compared to the E145 make it a strategic choice for expanding passenger charter services.

CommuteAir’s expansion efforts align with the evolving demand in regional air travel, and the introduction of the E170 reflects the airline’s dedication to providing enhanced services and flexibility to its passengers.
