Controversial N.C. hotel-eviction bill vetoed

A North Carolina legislative measure that sought to clarify hoteliers’ right to expel misbehaving guests has been vetoed by Gov. Roy Cooper. Critics said the bill, whose stated purpose was to differentiate between short-term residents and long-term tenants, threatened needy occupants with arbitrary removal.
