Copa Airlines Plans More Boeing 737 MAX Deliveries in 2025

Copa Airlines is set to expand its fleet with up to 13 Boeing 737-8s in 2025, increasing its expected deliveries from 11, according to Copa Holdings CEO Pedro Heilbron.

“We are comfortable with the delivery schedule. We anticipate 13 aircraft this year, mainly in the second half, with two arriving in June and the rest later. Some will enter service in early 2026,” Heilbron stated during the company’s Q4 investor call.

Additionally, Copa’s cargo division, Wingo (Panama), expects to receive one more Boeing 737-800BCF, closing the year with an all-Boeing 737 fleet of 126 aircraft.

Previously, Copa Holdings projected 11 Boeing 737-8 deliveries in 2025, down from the originally expected 14 units. While the new estimate of 13 aircraft improves on the previous projection, it still falls short of the initial forecast.

Heilbron cautioned that the delivery schedule depends on Boeing’s production ramp-up, which must meet expectations to ensure the airline receives its planned aircraft.

Copa Holdings, including subsidiaries Wingo (Panama) and Wingo (Colombia), reported a net profit of $608.5 million in 2024. The Panama-based fleet currently includes 112 aircraft, with 58 Boeing 737-800s, 32 Boeing 737-9s, 9 Boeing 737-700s, 3 Boeing 737-8s, and 1 Boeing 737-800BCF. Meanwhile, Copa Airlines Colombia operates 9 Boeing 737-800s under the Wingo (Colombia) brand.
