Côte d’Ivoire Clears Air France and Corsair for Abidjan Flights

The government of Côte d’Ivoire has approved the winter flight schedules of Air France and Corsair for the Paris–Abidjan route, resolving weeks of political friction over market access. The decision reportedly followed direct intervention by French President Emmanuel Macron after Ivorian authorities initially withheld approval.

Officials in Côte d’Ivoire had raised concerns that national carrier Air Côte d’Ivoire faces unfair competition due to the higher frequency of flights operated by the two French airlines. Despite the impasse, Air France and Corsair continued operating their Abidjan services while awaiting a final ruling.

The newly granted approval brings stability to one of West Africa’s busiest long-haul routes as both countries work to ease tensions over bilateral air service rights.
