Several cruise ships in the industry are set to undergo ownership changes in 2025, with new operators taking charge and exciting developments on the horizon. Carnival Cruise Line Expands Fleet with Ships from P&O Australia
Carnival Cruise Line is set to acquire multiple vessels from P&O Cruises Australia, which is ceasing operations. The first two ships, Carnival Adventure and Carnival Endeavor, previously known as the Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter respectively, will join the Carnival fleet in March 2025. Both ships, with a capacity of 2,600 guests each, will continue to serve the Australian market. The ships will operate out of key locations, including Brisbane.
Resorts World Cruises to Operate Star Scorpio
The Pacific Explorer, now rebranded as Star Scorpio, will join the fleet of Resorts World Cruises in March 2025. This ship, which accommodates 1,998 guests, is undergoing an extensive $50 million renovation in Singapore. After the refurbishment, it will begin sailing in Southeast Asia.
Alma Cruceros Takes Over Ocean Victory
The Ocean Victory, a 186-guest vessel previously operated by American Queen Voyages, will be transferred to Alma Cruceros in April 2025. This luxury ship will sail the Mediterranean on seasonal voyages, offering guests a refined cruising experience in one of the world’s most sought-after regions.
Linblad Expeditions Acquires Celebrity Ships
In a move that will strengthen their Galapagos Islands offerings, Linblad Expeditions will take over two former Celebrity Cruises ships. The National Geographic Delfina, a 16-guest catamaran, will sail in the Galapagos beginning February 2025 after undergoing renovations. Similarly, the National Geographic Gemini, a 100-guest ship formerly known as Celebrity Xpedition, will begin operating in the Galapagos Islands in March 2025.
Victory Cruise Lines Expands with Two Ships
Victory Cruise Lines is enhancing its fleet with the acquisition of two ships from American Queen Voyages. The Victory I and Victory II, both with a capacity of 202 guests, will begin service in 2025, offering scenic cruises in the Great Lakes and repositioning itineraries in Canada and New England. These ships, previously known as Ocean Voyager and Saint Laurent (Victory I) and Ocean Navigator and Sea Discoverer (Victory II), will provide unique cruising experiences in these regions.
