Crystal Cruises has announced two major milestones in the construction of its highly anticipated new ship—the brand’s first new-build in 25 years and the first under the ownership of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in May 2028, marking a new era for the iconic luxury cruise line.

According to the company, steel cutting for the ship will begin in May 2026, followed by the keel-laying ceremony in December 2026. Both milestones represent crucial steps in the shipbuilding process and signal the start of full-scale construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

While the name of the ship has not yet been revealed, Crystal confirmed that the announcement is coming soon, along with details about its inaugural voyages, new suite categories, and innovative onboard experiences. The inaugural season, set for 2028, will go on sale next spring, with an early waitlist opening ahead of general bookings.

The new vessel will embody the next generation of Crystal’s refined luxury—melding timeless design with modern innovation, exceptional dining, and personalized service. It will also introduce a range of enhancements inspired by guest feedback and the brand’s legacy of sophistication at sea.

In addition to this ship, Crystal has two more new builds in the pipeline: the second is scheduled for completion in 2030, followed by a third in 2032, signaling long-term growth and investment under Abercrombie & Kent’s stewardship.

“Behind the scenes, our teams have been working diligently on every element of this extraordinary project—from design and craftsmanship to technical innovation,” said Cristina Levis, chief executive officer of A&K Travel Group. “These milestones represent more than construction progress; they are a testament to our shared commitment with Fincantieri to deliver the most exceptional ship at sea, on schedule and with an unparalleled attention to detail.”

With this announcement, Crystal Cruises reaffirms its position as a leader in ultra-luxury ocean travel—blending its storied heritage with a renewed focus on craftsmanship, comfort, and innovation as it charts a new course for the brand’s future.
