In a remarkable start to the year, Cunard has announced that January saw the cruise line achieving its highest bookings in ten years, with a notable 25 percent increase over its previous best performance over the last decade. This surge in bookings highlights a strong demand for Cunard’s offerings, not only for 2024 sailings but also for future voyages, signaling a robust year ahead for the storied cruise line.

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, expressed excitement over this significant milestone, attributing the success to the global appeal of Cunard’s luxurious cruise experiences. She specifically pointed to the anticipation surrounding the launch of their new ship, Queen Anne, which is expected to debut in May. The addition of Queen Anne to Cunard’s fleet underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence in maritime travel. The ship is set to host 2,996 guests and will introduce 50 shore excursions across 60 ports during its inaugural year, exploring destinations such as the Canary Islands, Western Europe, and Norway.

Cunard’s record-breaking January is part of a wider trend of success within the cruise industry, with several other lines also reporting exceptional performances. Princess Cruises and Holland America Line have both achieved new booking records, with Princess Cruises experiencing unprecedented demand for its Alaska voyages and Holland America Line setting a new single-day sales record on January 16. The Royal Caribbean Group has also shared positive updates with investors, highlighting strong wave season performance across its brands.

As Cunard prepares for a “truly ground-breaking year,” the cruise line is also enhancing its onboard offerings with a variety of new shows and entertainment options, further enriching the guest experience. This surge in bookings and the introduction of new amenities and destinations reflect a growing trend of interest in cruise vacations, as travelers seek out unique and luxurious experiences on the high seas.

Cunard’s record January bookings not only forecast a promising year for the cruise line but also contribute to the overall momentum of the industry, as cruise lines continue to innovate and expand their offerings to meet the evolving desires of global travelers. With the debut of Queen Anne and the roll-out of new entertainment options, Cunard is poised to offer its guests unparalleled maritime adventures in 2024 and beyond.
