Cyprus Airports Achieve New Record in Passenger Traffic
Cyprus is heading towards a new passenger traffic record at Larnaka and Pafos airports. This year’s summer resembles something from 2019, leaving behind the challenging period for tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to data, passenger traffic this summer is already significantly higher than last year. Specifically, 1.47 million passengers in July traveled to and from Larnaka and Pafos airports, a slightly higher number compared to July 2019, a record-breaking year.
The traffic is expected to be exceptionally high for August 9-23, with over 300 flights and 50,000 passengers daily in Larnaka and Pafos.
However, August and September are estimated to approach the total passenger traffic levels of 2019, with an average of 1.4 million passengers per month (departures and arrivals).
Based on the same data, from the beginning of the year (January-July), 6.29 million passengers traveled to and from Cyprus, marking a 3% increase compared to the corresponding seven-month period in 2019.
