Czechia’s Air Bohemia certified for single-engine ops

Air Bohemia (BOH, Mnichovo Hradiste) will begin commercial operations with three PC-12/47Es in early April 2021 after it updated its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) operations specifications to include SET-IMC (single-engine turbine operations in instrumental meteorological conditions). The airline said it was the first Czech carrier to be certified as such. “This step comes at a time of significant development of commercial air transport operated by smaller aircraft, which to a certain extent replaces the crisis-affected sector of the world’s biggest airlines and at the same time allows connections between two small airports outside major international hubs,” Air Bohemia said. Air Bohemia has held an AOC from the Czech civil aviation authority (Úřad pro civilní letectví – UPCL) since 2012 but has thus far focussed on operating business jets and other Piper aircraft. According to the Czech aircraft register, the carrier currently operates one Cessna 560XL, two Piper (single piston) PA-46s, four Piper (twin turboprop) PA-42s, one Cessna 182, one Diamond DA42NG, and the three PC-12s.
