Dassault Falcon 10X on Track for 2027 Certification Target

Dassault Aviation remains on schedule to certify its ultra-long-range Falcon 10X business jet by 2027. Engineers are currently conducting airframe stress tests, while Rolls-Royce has completed its test campaign for the Pearl 10X engines, according to Dassault Aviation Asia Pacific President Jean-Michel Jacob, speaking at the Avalon Air Show in Melbourne.

The Falcon 10X will offer significant range improvements over the current Falcon 8X flagship. With a maximum range of 13,900 kilometers, the 33.4-meter jet will be capable of flying nonstop on long-haul city pairs such as Paris to Santiago and Los Angeles to Sydney. Although the program faced delays due to COVID-19 and supply chain issues, the first flight is expected this year, with certification targeted for 2027.

Dassault is using a mechanical test bed for structural and engine testing. Once certified, the 10X will compete directly with other ultra-long-range business jets from Bombardier and Gulfstream. Jacob sees strong demand in Asia Pacific, especially in countries like Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, where interest in nonstop intercontinental travel is growing.

In 2024, Dassault received 26 orders for its Falcon jets, up from 23 in 2023, with a total order value of EUR2.56 billion (USD2.8 billion). The company delivered 31 aircraft in 2024, including the first Falcon 6X to Switzerland’s Take Off Aviation AG. Dassault ended the year with a delivery backlog valued at EUR43.2 billion (USD47.6 billion).

Jacob added that demand is exceeding supply, which he considers a positive trend, and noted ongoing upgrades to in-service Falcons, including EASy IV avionics.
