Delta Air Lines Completes Retirement of CRJ200s from Regional Fleet

Delta Air Lines has officially retired its last CRJ200ER aircraft from its regional network on December 1, 2023. The retirement marks the completion of the phase-out of CRJ200s, slightly later than initially anticipated, as Delta continues to transition to larger two-class regional jets.

The final flight, operating from Elko to Salt Lake City, was serviced by N496CA (msn 7791), operated by SkyWest Airlines. The CRJ200 was the last type in Delta Connection’s fleet configured in a single-class layout. Delta’s regional fleet now primarily consists of CRJ700s, CRJ900s, E170s, and E175s, with operations handled by SkyWest Airlines, Republic Airways, and Delta’s subsidiary, Endeavor Air.

Endeavor Air completed the retirement of its CRJ200s in May 2023. SkyWest Airlines continues to operate eighty-five CRJ200s on behalf of United Airlines. Additionally, thirteen CRJ200s have been transferred to SkyWest Charter, a new subsidiary, and reconfigured into a 30-seat layout. The move is part of Delta’s ongoing efforts to enhance its regional fleet with larger and more modern aircraft.
