Delta Air Lines is set to enhance its summer 2025 transatlantic schedule with the introduction of seven new routes, including its inaugural nonstop service to Catania, Sicily. This expansion will connect travelers to key European cities such as Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, and Milan, while also increasing frequencies on five existing routes.

Starting in May 2025, Delta will launch daily service from New York JFK to Catania, marking the first direct flights by a U.S. airline to this previously underserved destination. This addition expands Delta’s Italian network to five points, including Milan Malpensa, Naples, Rome Fiumicino, and Venice Marco Polo.

In addition, Delta is enhancing connectivity to Italy with new 4X-weekly service from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to Naples, complementing current flights from New York JFK. This route is designed to facilitate travel to the picturesque Amalfi Coast and historic sites like Pompeii.

Other new routes include service from Boston Logan International Airport to Milan Malpensa and from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Rome Fiumicino, both operating four times per week. Frequencies will also increase between Atlanta and Rome, rising to 17X-weekly.

Delta will also introduce a route between Atlanta and Brussels, adding to the existing New York JFK-Brussels connection, as well as a new route from Boston to Barcelona. Delta already serves Barcelona from Atlanta and New York JFK.

The seventh new route, commencing in May, will link Detroit and Dublin four times per week, allowing Delta to serve Ireland’s capital from five hubs: Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and New York. Additionally, flights from Detroit to Munich will increase to daily service, while the 3X-weekly New York JFK-Munich route will be discontinued.

Delta’s Atlanta hub will see further frequency increases, with flights to Athens and Barcelona rising from daily to 11X-weekly and 10X-weekly, respectively, and Atlanta-Zurich increasing from 3X-weekly to daily.

With approximately 9.22 million two-way seats available between the U.S. and Europe for the summer 2024 season, Delta remains the largest operator in this market, slightly ahead of United Airlines with 9.18 million seats. The Netherlands is currently Delta’s largest European market, followed by France and Italy.

Earlier this month, American Airlines also announced five new routes to Europe for summer 2025, including a return to Edinburgh, Scotland, for the first time since 2019.
