Delta Air Lines Revamps SkyMiles Program in Response to Customer Feedback

In a nod to the concerns of its customers, Delta Air Lines, America’s second-largest airline, has unveiled alterations to its SkyMiles frequent flyer program. Addressing customer feedback and previous criticisms, Delta has decided to cut down on the spending thresholds required for achieving elite status, simplify the process of accessing its esteemed airport lounges, and amplify rewards for its most devoted passengers. “We value your feedback and are committed to taking action,” affirmed Delta’s CEO, Ed Bastian.

Delta encountered significant pushback from its regular flyers after announcing a major revamp of its SkyMiles program for 2024, wherein the sole criterion for Medallion status would be spending, and limitations would be imposed on Sky Club lounge access for credit card holders. This announcement did not sit well with many loyal customers, prompting a flurry of disgruntled comments across social media and other online platforms.

Taking these concerns seriously, Delta revisited its decisions and has introduced the following modifications set to roll out in 2025:

  • A 20% reduction in the spending thresholds across all Medallion tiers, easing the journey to elite status.
  • Expanded access for credit card holders to the Sky Club lounges, with multiple visits within a day counting as a singular visit.
  • Enhanced Choice Benefits for Platinum and Diamond Medallion members, allowing greater customization of their rewards.
  • A nod to longtime loyalty with heightened lifetime status for those who have amassed millions of flight miles.

By introducing these changes, Delta aspires to extend its gratitude to its faithful customer base and assures its commitment to refining the SkyMiles program in response to their needs in the coming years.
