Delta Air Lines and El Al Israel Airlines have entered into a significant codeshare agreement, set to enhance connectivity between the United States and Israel. This collaboration is a major step in offering passengers more options for travel between the U.S. and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV).

The agreement will become operational on January 1, 2024. As part of this arrangement, Delta’s code will be added to El Al flights connecting TLV with six major U.S. airports. These include Boston (BOS), Fort Lauderdale (Florida), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami, Newark (New Jersey), and New York John F. Kennedy (JFK).

In turn, El Al will place its code on Delta’s currently suspended routes to TLV from Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), and JFK. This codeshare will significantly benefit El Al passengers by providing them access to an extensive network of up to 280 same-day connections to various North American cities operated by Delta. Notable destinations in this network include Las Vegas, Toronto, and Seattle.

Additionally, the partnership will offer reciprocal benefits for members of the airlines’ frequent-flyer programs.

Alain Bellemare, Delta’s President for International, emphasized Delta’s commitment to providing high-quality air service to and from Tel Aviv. He noted that the initiation of this codeshare agreement with El Al is an important milestone, offering customers convenient, one-stop services from Israel to cities across the Americas. Bellemare also highlighted the opportunity for North American customers to experience El Al’s world-class service to and from Tel Aviv.

The agreement comes at a time when Delta has extended the suspension of its JFK-TLV route through at least March 29, 2024, due to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. Delta’s routes from ATL and BOS to TLV remain suspended as well.

This codeshare partnership between Delta Air Lines and El Al Israel Airlines marks a significant enhancement in the air travel landscape between the U.S. and Israel. It not only broadens the range of travel options for passengers but also strengthens the commercial ties between the two airlines, reflecting a shared commitment to improving air connectivity and passenger experience on this important international route.
