Delta Air Lines and LATAM, the leading airline group in South America, celebrated the first anniversary of their joint venture on October 6, 2023, with several noteworthy achievements and announcements. This joint venture, which received approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation in September 2022, has enabled both airlines to coordinate flights, fares, schedules, and benefits between the United States, Canada, and South America.

Since the inception of this partnership, Delta and LATAM have introduced six new routes connecting the two regions. These routes include São Paulo-Los Angeles, Miami-Bogota, New York-Lima, Atlanta-Lima, Miami-Medellin, and Miami-Cali. Moreover, the two airlines have successfully operated over 15,000 flights and transported more than 3 million passengers between North and South America.

The joint venture has significantly expanded the network and travel options for customers, granting access to a vast network of over 300 destinations throughout the Americas. Delta and LATAM have also enhanced their loyalty programs, allowing members of SkyMiles and LATAM Pass to earn and redeem miles on both airlines. Additionally, Medallion Members and LATAM Pass Elite members can enjoy priority services, lounge access, and various other benefits when traveling with either airline.

Alex Antilla, the Vice President of Latin America for Delta, expressed the partnership’s success by stating, “Together, we’re connecting North and South America and attracting new customers. We’ve worked hard together to add exciting new routes, grow existing routes, and make travel easier, more enjoyable, and more rewarding for millions of customers.”

This collaboration has received regulatory approvals from several countries, including Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, and Chile, with pending approval from Peru and Ecuador. As the partnership continues to strengthen, both Delta and LATAM anticipate announcing additional route launches and enhancements in the future, further enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
