Delta Air Lines’ Robert Walpole, vice president of cargo, is taking cargo needs into consideration more than ever as Delta steps up its role in vaccine distribution and plots a course through the COVID recovery. “There were a number of markets in the world where we were flying cargo-only or predominantly cargo and if a few passengers happened to get on board that was nice [but can shift] into markets that we were foreseeing flying to in the future from a passenger perspective: Rome, Milan, Nagoya and others,” Walpole said.
