Delta halts code share as US drops Mexico air safety rating
The US government downgraded Mexico’s air safety rating, which means Mexican airlines cannot increase service to the US and Delta had to suspend code sharing with partner airline Aeromexico. “This is about the Mexican version of the FAA not having some of the right protocols in place,” and not about any shortcomings on Aeromexico’s part, said Delta President Glen Hauenstein, adding that removing code shares will not affect frequent flyer benefits and will have “very little impact for our customers booking through Delta.”
