Delta Air Lines (DAL -0.4%) plans to launch five new routes from Boston’s Logan Airport next year on the expectation that demand will continue to pick up. The carrier’s new flights are planned to include routes to Athens, Tel Aviv, Baltimore, Denver and San Diego. The airline is also looking to debut its new Airbus A321neo out of Boston next year. The energy efficient jet features a new First Class seat design and what is described as a state-of-the-art HEPA cabin air filtration system.

By the summer of 2022, Delta sees operating up to 160 daily nonstop flights to 55 destinations. Notably, that level of activity is more than a 20% capacity jump from the prepandemic peak in October of 2019.

Delta is looking to stay strong in the Northeast, with a new American Airlines and JetBlue partnership in the works if it clears the regulatory and legal process.
