Delta Regional Jets Collide at LaGuardia Airport, One Injured

Two Delta Air Lines regional jets were involved in a low-speed collision while taxiing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday evening, leaving one flight attendant with minor injuries, the airline confirmed.
According to Delta, the incident occurred at approximately 9:56 p.m. local time when Endeavor Air flight DL5155, a Bombardier CRJ-900LR taxiing for departure, clipped the fuselage of Endeavor flight DL5047, another CRJ-900LR that had just landed and was taxiing to its gate. Both aircraft were operated by Endeavor Air under the Delta Connection brand.
Audio from air traffic control captured one pilot reporting: “Their right wing clipped our nose and the cockpit—we have damage to our windscreen and some of our screens in here.”
Port Authority officials said a flight attendant was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution, but no passengers were injured. Despite the collision, airport operations continued without disruption.
In a statement, Delta emphasized its commitment to passenger and crew safety: “Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi. Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred, as the safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
The airline confirmed it will fully cooperate with investigations led by the Port Authority, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Both aircraft sustained visible damage, including to the nose and cockpit of one jet.
The incident highlights the challenges of managing ground operations at one of the nation’s busiest airports, where tight taxiways and high traffic volumes leave little margin for error. Investigators will now seek to determine what led to the collision and whether communication or procedural missteps played a role.
