DerbySoft Enters Flight Tech Sector with Ryanair Deal

DerbySoft has officially expanded into the aviation technology space with the launch of a new flight connectivity solution designed to streamline partnerships between airlines and online travel agencies. The debut of this offering marks the formation of DerbySoft’s new flight business unit, which kicks off with Ryanair Holdings PLC as its first major airline partner.
This strategic move enables DerbySoft to access and distribute Ryanair’s flight content globally through its network of OTA partners, enhancing its value proposition across the travel distribution ecosystem. The partnership builds upon a previous relationship that existed between PKFare—a B2B travel marketplace acquired by DerbySoft in 2024—and Kyte, which had earlier facilitated Ryanair content access.
Ted Zhang, co-founder and CEO of DerbySoft, said the move underscores the company’s long-term mission to foster a more open and interconnected travel industry. “DerbySoft’s entrance into the flight industry with technology designed to enhance the end-to-end customer journey furthers our goal of making the travel industry more open and interconnected,” he stated.
The new flight division will be led by Jason Sui, co-founder of PKFare, who now serves as divisional CEO for flights at DerbySoft. Sui emphasized the synergies between the two companies, noting that their collaboration has created a robust platform to deliver greater innovation and efficiency for partners. “This launch of our new flight technology solution highlights how collaboration between DerbySoft and PKFare delivers more value to our partners and brings innovation to the travel distribution space,” he said.
This latest product will integrate into DerbySoft’s broader portfolio, which already includes a wide range of solutions for the hospitality sector. These services span business and leisure travel connectivity, property management system integration, performance marketing, and content optimization tools. By adding a dedicated flight solution, the company aims to unify its capabilities across transportation and accommodation, offering a comprehensive ecosystem for travel providers and sellers.
The flight connectivity platform is built for scale and performance, tailored to the evolving demands of airlines and travel sellers. It is designed to simplify the process of distributing flight content by connecting disparate systems and improving access to low-cost carrier inventory, such as that of Ryanair.
DerbySoft’s broader strategy includes continued investment in innovation. Earlier in 2024, the company acquired Arise, an AI-powered platform that enhances communication between travel advisors and suppliers and assists in restoring hotel commissions. Arise, recognized as a PhocusWire Hot 25 Travel Startup in 2019, is part of DerbySoft’s ongoing efforts to bring cutting-edge tools into its ecosystem.
In March, DerbySoft also restructured its executive team to align leadership with its expanded focus, reflecting a commitment to operational agility and cross-sector growth. With its latest push into airline technology, DerbySoft is positioning itself as a multi-modal travel tech provider aiming to bridge gaps in distribution, enhance traveler experiences, and drive efficiency across the supply chain.
