Deutsche Aircraft Partners for D328eco Production Facility
Deutsche Aircraft has announced a significant partnership for the construction of its production facility dedicated to the new D328eco, a 40-seater regional turboprop, at Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ). The collaboration with Weerts Group was confirmed on October 1, 2024, marking a key milestone in the ambitious project to manufacture this next-generation aircraft.
The Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the D328eco is scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2025, with plans to produce 48 aircraft annually. This strategic move follows Deutsche Aircraft’s preparation of the new site at LEJ, setting the stage for construction work to commence, as announced in June 2024.
The new production facility will span 60,500 square meters and will house essential infrastructure, including the Final Assembly Line, Flight Readiness Hangar, Logistics Centre, and Administration Building. This comprehensive setup is projected to create jobs for between 250-350 employees, boosting the local economy and supporting the burgeoning aviation sector.
“This partnership with Weerts Group signifies an important milestone in the industrialization of the D328eco,” stated Nico Neumann, COO of Deutsche Aircraft. “Weerts Group brings a robust portfolio of experience as we construct the Final Assembly Line. This is a testament to our dedication to the success of the D328eco program and its pivotal role in the aviation value chain in Europe and globally.”
Deutsche Aircraft emphasizes that the D328eco production facility will integrate cutting-edge technologies and processes, leading to a paperless production environment. The facility will utilize automated transport systems tailored specifically for the D328eco, enhancing operational efficiency and production capabilities.
One of the standout features of the Final Assembly Line will be the incorporation of 3D models in production, along with the potential integration of augmented reality technology. This innovative approach is expected to significantly enhance productivity and precision, further solidifying Deutsche Aircraft’s position as a leader in the aviation manufacturing industry.
The FAL will also focus on sustainability and customer experience, utilizing energy-efficient manufacturing tools and offering a unique opportunity for customers to witness the aircraft assembly process firsthand. This commitment to sustainability aligns with the growing demand for environmentally friendly aviation solutions.
The D328eco is considered the next-generation evolution of the currently in-service D328, which is operated by regional airlines and multi-role aircraft operators worldwide. The D328eco is set to meet the modern demands of regional air travel with advanced technology and increased efficiency.
On July 25, 2024, Deutsche Aircraft commenced the construction of the test aircraft, designated TAC 1, as part of its progress towards the maiden flight of the D328eco program. This advancement marks an exciting chapter for Deutsche Aircraft as it aims to revolutionize regional aviation with the D328eco, offering enhanced performance and environmental benefits.
As Deutsche Aircraft continues to develop the D328eco, the partnership with Weerts Group will play a crucial role in delivering a state-of-the-art production facility, poised to meet the demands of the aviation market while prioritizing sustainability and innovation in aircraft manufacturing.
