Discover Airlines Unveils Ocean Blue Long-Haul Cabins for A330 Fleet

Five years after its launch, Discover Airlines is moving into its next growth phase with the largest investment in its history: a complete redesign of its long-haul cabin product. All 16 Airbus A330-300 aircraft in the airline’s fleet will be fitted with an entirely new cabin concept branded Ocean Blue, marking a major upgrade across Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class.

Discover Airlines is the Lufthansa Group’s Quality Leisure Airline in Germany, flying travelers from Frankfurt and Munich to the world’s most beautiful holiday destinations.

The first Airbus A330 featuring the new cabin is scheduled to enter service in April 2027, with the remainder of the fleet converted on a rolling basis. The retrofit program is expected to be completed by mid-2028. Once finalized, each aircraft will offer a total of 288 seats, including 227 in Economy Class, 31 in Premium Economy, and 30 in Business Class.

Ocean Blue is designed to reflect Discover Airlines’ leisure-focused identity while maintaining a clear connection to the wider Lufthansa Group. The cabin features deep blue tones inspired by the ocean, complemented by clean lines, refined accents, and carefully selected materials to create a modern, high-quality atmosphere across all classes. Human Centric Lighting is integrated throughout the cabin to support passengers’ natural biorhythms and enhance comfort on long-haul journeys.

Each travel class receives a meaningful product upgrade. Economy Class seats are optimized to provide more legroom, an improved recline angle, six-way adjustable headrests, and additional storage. Premium Economy, already positioned as a strong offering among leisure carriers, is enhanced with a hard-shell seat design that allows reclining without impacting passengers behind, along with improved privacy, leg rests, and integrated reading lights.

Business Class moves to a full 1-2-1 configuration, giving all passengers direct aisle access. Seats convert into fully flat beds of around two meters in length and provide increased privacy, storage, and personal space. Approximately half of the seats are designed with couples in mind, featuring adjustable privacy dividers.

A standout feature is the introduction of two front-row Business Class Suites. These suites include sliding doors, 32-inch monitors, expanded footwells, additional storage, and an enhanced dining experience, offering a level of privacy and comfort rarely seen in leisure-focused long-haul travel.

Technology is a central element of the Ocean Blue concept. All seats feature larger 4K touchscreens with Bluetooth connectivity. USB-C ports are standard across the cabin, with wireless charging available in Premium Economy and Business Class. The airline will also upgrade its entire long-haul fleet to free high-speed internet powered by Starlink.

According to CEO Ulrich Lindner, the three-digit million investment underscores the airline’s long-term commitment to comfort, quality, and a premium leisure travel experience, positioning Discover Airlines for its next chapter of growth.
