Disney Cruise Line has delayed the launch of its first Asia-based ship, the Disney Adventure, pushing the debut from December 15, 2025, to March 10, 2026. The vessel, which began sea trials last week in Wismar, Germany, is the largest ship ever built for Disney and is designed to cater specifically to the Asian market.

According to Bloomberg, at least 25 sailings—each carrying around 6,700 passengers—have been affected by the three-month postponement. Disney has not given a detailed explanation for the delay but attributed it to “unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process.”

“As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays,” said Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences. “The ship, once complete, will be the company’s largest ever.”

Guests impacted by the change will receive official communication from Disney Cruise Line outlining options for rebooking or full refunds.

When it finally launches from its homeport in Singapore, the Disney Adventure will introduce an array of new experiences for the region, including Marvel-themed attractions such as an Iron Man roller coaster, and innovative family-friendly spaces like the Royal Society for Friendship and Tea, a Disney Princess-themed tea party venue.

Industry observers view the ship as a cornerstone of Disney Cruise Line’s expansion into Asia, positioning the brand to capture the region’s fast-growing family cruise market despite the temporary setback.
