Disney Adventure Floated Out at Meyer Werft
Disney Cruise Line’s highly anticipated new ship, Disney Adventure, moved a significant step closer to its December debut when crews floated the vessel out of Meyer Werft’s building hall in Wismar, Germany, on Saturday. As fireworks lit the sky, a tugboat guided the hull into the shipyard harbor amid cheers from onlookers and a celebratory appearance by Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse. The float‑out marks the first time Disney Adventure has touched water and signals the transition from hull assembly to detailed outfitting.
Once afloat, Disney Adventure was shifted to a nearby outfitting dock where shipbuilders will spend the coming months completing interior construction and installing exterior fittings. Central among these tasks is the addition of four iconic Disney Cruise Line funnels—double the number found on earlier vessels. The expanded funnel configuration will create a distinctive silhouette on Disney Adventure’s upper decks, reinforcing its role as the cruise line’s most visually striking ship to date.
Work crews will also begin mounting the ship’s vibrant yellow lifeboats along both flanks. According to the Disney Parks Blog, “Soon, we will start to see the addition of the iconic yellow lifeboats on the sides of the ship and thrilling new attractions, including Marvel Landing’s Groot Galaxy Spin and Disney Cruise Line’s first‑ever coaster, Ironcycle Test Run.” These immersive rides will offer families and thrill‑seekers memorable experiences, from spinning adventures among the stars to coaster‑style dashes above the ship’s promenade deck.
Behind the funnels and lifeboats, interior designers are installing themed décor, interactive art installations and character meet‑and‑greet spaces in lounges and corridors. Staterooms are being outfitted with custom murals and plush furnishings that blend Disney storytelling with modern nautical style. Public venues—including family‑friendly theaters, adults‑only retreats and specialty dining restaurants—are receiving final touches to ensure each space reflects the creativity and attention to detail for which Disney is renowned.
Following interior completion, Disney Adventure will undergo a series of sea trials in the Baltic Sea to validate safety systems, navigation equipment and guest amenities. A formal naming ceremony, with a yet‑to‑be‑announced godparent, will cap off the build process, adhering to Disney Cruise Line’s long‑held tradition of ceremonial ship christenings.
Disney Adventure is slated to begin service from Singapore in December 2025, marking the cruise line’s inaugural deployment in Southeast Asia. The maiden itinerary will showcase regional highlights, calling at top ports in Indonesia and Vietnam before celebrating the ship’s entry into service with a festive cruise around Singapore’s harbor. Early bookings have already demonstrated strong interest, reflecting growing demand for Disney’s brand of immersive cruising in new markets.
