Disney Cruise Line to Expand Year-Round Operations in Galveston by 2027

Disney Cruise Line is set to significantly grow its presence in Galveston, Texas, beginning in 2027, transitioning from seasonal to year-round sailings from the Gulf Coast port. The announcement was made by Rodger Rees, port director and CEO of Galveston Wharves, during a recent Galveston City Council and Wharves Board meeting, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Rees highlighted Disney’s strategic focus on the Western Caribbean cruise market and its commitment to long-term investment in the region. “They’re putting a lot of money into that,” Rees said. “Because of that, Disney is expanding to full-time here in Galveston starting in 2027.”

Disney Cruise Line has maintained a seasonal schedule in Galveston for over a decade, typically offering sailings from November through April. The cruise line’s current schedule includes departures from Galveston between November 2025 and April 2026.

This expansion aligns with broader developments at the Port of Galveston, which is set to open its fourth cruise terminal in November 2025. The $156 million terminal will be the new homeport for MSC Cruises’ MSC Seascape and will also accommodate Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings vessels, reflecting the port’s growing status as a major embarkation point for Caribbean cruises.

Disney’s move to establish a permanent year-round presence is expected to boost the local economy and further cement Galveston’s role as a leading cruise hub in the Western Caribbean.
