Dominica Highlights Enhanced Connectivity

The Caribbean island nation of Dominica released a slew of notable travel updates for the second quarter of 2023 on Thursday.

Coming off a successful first quarter that saw the destination recognized as one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places, the Discover Dominica Authority revealed new details regarding flights and ferry service to and from the island.

For example, American Airlines’ nonstop service to Dominica (DOM) from Miami International Airport (MIA) will be three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday now through May 31, 2023, before increasing to four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from June 1 to August 14, 2023.

As of April 1, Air Antilles has added service between Saint Lucia (SLU), Dominica (DOM) and Guadeloupe (PTP) and onward to St. Martin (SFG), allowing for travel through Paris to Europe.

Meanwhile, Caribbean Airlines is expanding services to Dominica starting Friday, April 7. The carrier will maintain its current schedule from Trinidad (POS) to DOM nonstop and onward to Barbados on Thursdays, and Trinidad (POS) via Barbados (BGI) to DOM and back to Trinidad (POS) on Mondays while the expanded service adds a direct flight from Trinidad (POS) to DOM on Fridays, making onward connections to the Tristate area of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey via JFK and to Canada via Toronto easier.

Turks and Caicos-based regional airline interCaribbean is offering daily flights to Dominica. In total, interCaribbean will operate 17 flights to Dominica weekly from Barbados and Saint Lucia, the Discover Dominica Authority confirmed.

LIAT Airlines, Silver Airways and Winair are also helping travelers reach the island via expanded service and partnerships with other carriers.

As far as ferry service to and from Dominica is concerned, L’express des iles will maintain five-time return services per week with Guadeloupe taking place Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and five days per week from Martinique into Dominica Wednesday through Sunday.

L’express des iles operates four times per week to Saint Lucia Thursday through Sunday and from Saint Lucia on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Additional services may be added for public holidays, so travelers are encouraged to check the website for the latest updates.

Finally, Valferry will maintain its twice-per-week rotations on Sunday and Friday between both Guadeloupe and Martinique (Saint Pierre) and Dominica.
