DR Congo’s Airfast Congo Expands Fleet with First Embraer E140

Airfast Congo is expanding its jet fleet by adding its first Embraer E140, doubling its regional jet capacity. The aircraft, 9J-PKP (msn 145734), is being leased from Zambia’s Royal Air Charters and is set to begin operations by the end of February, according to industry sources.
The Embraer E140 arrived in Lubumbashi from Lusaka on January 17 and will soon enter service on the Lubumbashi-Kolwezi route, operating five times per week. The aircraft is leased to Royal Air Charters by Regional One, a known provider of aircraft leasing solutions.
Airfast Congo currently operates an Embraer E145, 9J-TST (msn 145305), also leased from Royal Air Charters. This 24.5-year-old aircraft flies domestic routes connecting Lubumbashi, Kolwezi, Kinshasa N’Djili, and Kalemie.
Beyond its jet operations, Airfast Congo also operates a Let 410 aircraft, 9S-GDP (msn 902519), serving destinations such as Lubumbashi, Kamina Ville, Manono, Piestany, and Djerba.
The addition of the E140 strengthens Airfast Congo’s position in the regional aviation market, enhancing connectivity within the Democratic Republic of Congo. The move aligns with growing passenger demand for reliable regional air travel, particularly between key mining and business hubs.
With this expansion, Airfast Congo continues to modernize its fleet and improve operational efficiency, positioning itself as a key player in the Congolese aviation sector.
