A newly released video has captured a dramatic scene at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, where a Delta Air Lines Airbus A321neo caught fire shortly after landing. The incident occurred last week as the plane arrived from Cancun, Mexico, carrying 189 passengers who were swiftly evacuated using emergency slides.

According to reports from KOMO News, the fire ignited in the plane’s nose area due to an electrical cord that generated sparks upon connecting to ground power after landing. The surveillance footage from the airport shows intense flames and black smoke billowing from the front of the aircraft as passengers evacuated, some even walking onto the wings to reach safety down a staircase to the tarmac.

Passenger Ashwin Menon described the evacuation to KOMO News: “I think people responded to that with panic, there was a little bit of jostling in the aisles to get to the exit, but overall it was a pretty smooth evacuation process.”

Delta Air Lines responded to the incident, stating, “During deplaning on the evening of May 6, the crew of Flight 604 from Cancun to Seattle witnessed smoke in the aircraft nose area after plugging into ground electrical power. Out of an abundance of caution, slides were deployed and passengers still on board deplaned via the rear of the aircraft,” according to a statement provided to FOX Business.

First responders were quickly on the scene, addressing the fire and ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew involved. The incident highlights the critical importance of safety procedures and swift action in emergency situations.
