EasyJet Pilot Suspended Over Drunk, Naked Hotel Stunt

EasyJet has suspended a captain after he was reportedly spotted wandering naked and intoxicated through a luxury hotel in Cape Verde.
The incident occurred in the early hours of August 5 at the five-star Melia Dunas Beach Resort and Spa. According to reports in The Sun, the pilot began drinking shortly after arriving at the resort on August 4. By around 2:30 a.m. local time, guests claimed he stripped off and roamed through the reception area before heading into the gym and spa. Witnesses described him as “reek[ing] of alcohol.”
The captain was scheduled to operate a return flight to London Gatwick on August 6, more than 36 hours later. However, EasyJet grounded him after receiving complaints and arranged for a replacement pilot.
An airline spokesperson told the BBC the captain was “immediately stood down from duty” and now faces an internal investigation. “The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet’s highest priority,” the spokesperson said.
The 2,332-nautical-mile (4,318km) flight from Cape Verde to Gatwick departed with a different pilot. No passengers were harmed, and EasyJet has not commented on possible disciplinary outcomes.
