Eclipse at Half Moon Reopens in Jamaica April 2

Jamaica’s iconic Half Moon will officially reopen its Eclipse at Half Moon wing on April 2, marking a major milestone in the island’s recovery following Hurricane Melissa. The reopening signals renewed momentum for Jamaica’s tourism sector and restores one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated luxury resorts to full operation.
Set along a two-mile stretch of coastline just 10 minutes from Sangster International Airport, Half Moon is managed by Salamander Collection and is part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection. Long regarded as a cornerstone of Jamaica’s hospitality landscape, the resort blends heritage, refined service and contemporary Caribbean design.
Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett called the reopening a powerful signal of confidence in the country’s tourism recovery. He noted that the return of Eclipse at Half Moon restores hundreds of jobs and strengthens the broader tourism value chain, benefiting local communities and the national economy.
The Eclipse enclave features 57 beachfront accommodations, an infinity-edge pool, natural swimming coves and multiple bars and restaurants. The reopening also includes the return of newly reimagined six- and seven-bedroom villas, while additional legacy accommodations are scheduled to reopen later this year.
To celebrate the relaunch, the resort is introducing a Welcome Back Home offer. Guests can enjoy four nights for the price of three, daily breakfast at Hayward’s seaside restaurant and complimentary dining for children five and under. The offer is valid for stays through December 19, 2026, with reservations required by December 14.
During its temporary closure after the October hurricane, Half Moon focused not only on restoration and renovation but also on supporting more than 850 team members affected by the storm. Chairman Guy Steuart III emphasized the resort’s enduring commitment to care for both staff and returning guests, many of whom have visited for generations.
Guests at Eclipse will once again experience open-air architecture, intuitive service and gathering spaces set between the Palmyra Hills and the Caribbean Sea. Signature dining venues, Fern Tree Spa, the Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, watersports, equestrian facilities and family-friendly programming will also resume, reaffirming Half Moon’s position as one of Jamaica’s premier luxury destinations.
