Edelweiss Air to Upgrade A350 Cabins by 2027

Edelweiss Air will retrofit the cabins of its entire Airbus A350-900 fleet by July 2027, introducing a redesigned onboard product across all six aircraft. The first upgraded jet is scheduled for completion by December 2026 as the Zurich-based leisure carrier continues to modernize its long-haul offering.

The airline began inducting second-hand A350-900s in 2025. However, the aircraft currently retain the cabin configuration of their previous operator, LATAM Airlines Brasil. The retrofit program will align the interiors with Edelweiss’ brand standards and enhance passenger comfort across all classes.

Under the new layout, economy class will expand from 249 to 259 seats. Despite the increase in seat count, Edelweiss says passengers can expect improved legroom and a refreshed cabin design aimed at boosting overall comfort on long-haul routes.

Premium economy will see a significant reduction, decreasing from 63 seats to 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. The move reflects a strategic rebalancing of cabin capacity to better match demand patterns on the airline’s leisure-focused network.

Business class capacity will increase slightly, from 30 to 32 seats. Notably, the upgraded cabin will include four dedicated business suite seats, offering enhanced privacy and a more premium experience for high-yield travelers. The addition of suite-style seating signals Edelweiss’ intent to compete more effectively in the growing premium leisure segment.

The Airbus A350-900 is known for its fuel efficiency, advanced aerodynamics and passenger-friendly features such as higher cabin humidity and larger windows. By combining these aircraft advantages with a redesigned cabin, Edelweiss aims to strengthen its long-haul product as competition intensifies in the European leisure travel market.

The retrofit timeline, running through mid-2027, allows the airline to gradually introduce the upgraded experience while maintaining operational continuity. Once completed, all six A350-900s will feature the new configuration, positioning Edelweiss Air with a more modern, balanced and competitive cabin offering across its intercontinental network.
