Edmonton and CargoAi scoop Tiaca sustainability awards
As this year’s Tiaca Air Cargo Forum drew to a close in Miami, the cross-sector airfreight organisation announced the winners of its Air Cargo Sustainability Awards and also the location of next year’s Executive Summit.
CargoAi was the winner of the start-up/small business award, while Edmonton International Airport (YEG) was the winner of the corporate award.
Meanwhile, Brussels Airport was announced as the host of next year’s Executive Summit.
The awards, which are run in partnership with IT software firm Champ, recognise businesses and industry initiatives designed to make air cargo more sustainable.
“YEG’s Airport City Sustainability Campus is a growing hub of transportation, cargo logistics, manufacturing, sustainability, technology development and tourism,” Tiaca said.
“It is an integrated ecosystem that spurs collaboration and innovation while fostering the commercialisation of emerging clean technologies.”
The winner of the start up/small business award was selected by the audience at the Air Cargo Forum in Miami.
“CargoAi recently launched Cargo2ZERO, a suite of solutions for forwarders aimed at decarbonizing the air cargo industry through use of a CO2 efficiency score,” Tiaca said of the booking platform’s win.
CargoAi will receive a cash prize of $10,000 while runners up – AeroVect and Elite Champ – will each receive $2,500

Chris McDermott, chief executive, CHAMP Cargosystems, added: “The Air Cargo Sustainability Awards have grown considerably this year.
“The strong entries show the evolution and innovation throughout the industry and are a good sign of things to come. Now and in future, sustainability will be an integral part of air cargo.”
Brussels selected
Tiaca also announced that Brussels Airport will host the Executive Summit 2023, to be held November 6-8.
“Tiaca is working with Brussels Airport to organize a first-class conference, which will bring together over 300 decision makers from across the globe to network, showcase their companies and products, as well as learn and debate pressing issues affecting the entire industry,” the group said.
The two-day conference will include a series of panel sessions, fireside chats and keynote sessions that will cover issues affecting the industry and challenge the day-to-day norm, as well as networking events.
