EgyptAir Orders 10 Airbus A350-900s at Dubai Airshow
EgyptAir has announced an order for 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow, as part of its expansion plans and fleet modernization. The order, which was revealed on Monday, will see the Egyptian flag carrier receive the first of the 10 wide-body jets in 2025, and the rest by 2027.
The A350-900 is a state-of-the-art aircraft that features a carbon-fiber fuselage and wings, a spacious cabin, and a fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine. The aircraft can carry up to 300 passengers and fly up to 15,000 km, making it suitable for long-haul routes. The aircraft also offers lower operating costs, reduced emissions, and enhanced passenger comfort.
EgyptAir Chairman and CEO Roshdy Zakaria said that the order was a strategic decision that would enable the airline to offer its customers the best service and experience. He also said that the order would support the airline’s growth and network expansion, as well as its environmental and social responsibility.
Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International Christian Scherer said that he was delighted that EgyptAir had chosen the A350-900 for its future fleet. He also said that the A350-900 was the perfect platform to connect Cairo to the world, and that the order demonstrated the confidence for the aircraft that offers unbeatable economics and efficiency.
EgyptAir already operates a fleet of six A350-900s, which it received between 2019 and 2020. The airline uses the aircraft for its flights to destinations such as New York, Washington, Toronto, London, Paris, and Tokyo. With the new order, EgyptAir will have a total of 16 A350-900s in its fleet by 2027.
