EGYPTAIR has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, marking the start of a 16-aircraft order and making the airline the launch operator for the type in North Africa. The new widebody will play a central role in the carrier’s long-haul fleet modernisation strategy and support planned expansion from its Cairo hub to new intercontinental destinations.

The A350-900 is expected to enable EGYPTAIR to launch additional non-stop services to long-haul markets, including the US West Coast and North Asia. With its extended range capabilities, the aircraft strengthens Cairo’s position as a connecting hub between Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

The newly delivered aircraft features a two-class cabin configuration with 30 Business Class suites offering direct aisle access and 310 Economy Class seats. The jet is equipped with Airbus’ latest-generation Airspace cabin, designed to enhance passenger comfort on long-haul flights through improved lighting, cabin acoustics, wider seats, and increased overhead storage capacity. The cabin also incorporates design features aimed at improving crew workflow and onboard service efficiency.

The A350-900 is widely regarded as one of the most advanced widebody aircraft currently in service. It is capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) non-stop, allowing airlines to connect city pairs previously considered operationally challenging. Powered by next-generation Rolls-Royce engines and incorporating lightweight composite materials, the aircraft delivers approximately 25% lower fuel burn, operating costs, and carbon dioxide emissions compared with earlier-generation widebody aircraft.

EGYPTAIR’s introduction of the A350 represents a significant step in renewing its long-haul fleet, which currently includes Airbus A330 aircraft alongside its narrowbody A320neo and A321neo fleets. The addition of the A350 will gradually enhance efficiency while reducing environmental impact across its intercontinental network.

Like all Airbus aircraft currently in production, the A350 is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Airbus has set a target for its entire product line to be capable of operating with 100% SAF by 2030, supporting the aviation industry’s broader decarbonisation efforts.

As of the end of January 2026, the A350 Family had accumulated more than 1,500 firm orders from 67 customers worldwide, underscoring its strong market position in the long-range widebody segment. For EGYPTAIR, the delivery signals the beginning of a new chapter in fleet renewal, network expansion, and enhanced long-haul passenger experience.
