Electra and ITAKA Launch Air 001 Charter Carrier

Electra Airways, the Bulgarian ACMI specialist, has partnered with Polish tour operator ITAKA to launch Air 001, a new charter airline offering seasonal flights between Poland and popular leisure destinations. Announced May 2, 2025, the venture combines Electra’s operational expertise with ITAKA’s distribution channels to streamline holiday travel and expand leisure connectivity for Polish tourists.
Air 001 will operate under Electra Airways’ Air Operator Certificate, ensuring full compliance with European safety and regulatory standards. Although Air 001 will feature its own corporate identity, brand name and colorful livery, all flight operations and oversight will be conducted by Electra, leveraging its established ACMI model to maximize operational efficiency.
The new carrier’s fleet comprises three Airbus A320s and one A321, dry-leased from Electra and painted in a vibrant red and pink livery emblazoned with the Air 001 logo in white letters. Each aircraft retains Electra’s maintenance and support infrastructure and features the new paint scheme to reinforce brand visibility at airports and in the air.
Electra Airways will provide crew and maintenance services for Air 001 under its ACMI model, following established safety and training protocols. ITAKA will handle ticket sales and marketing through its online platforms, travel agencies and tour packages, offering travelers bundled flight-and-hotel deals to streamline holiday planning.
Air 001’s inaugural summer schedule will launch flights from Katowice, Warsaw, Wrocław and Poznań to Mediterranean, Canary Islands and Greek island destinations. Services will operate on weekly or biweekly frequencies, depending on demand, from June through September. By focusing on key Polish markets, Air 001 aims to fill charter capacity gaps and provide direct connections that bypass major hub congestion.
The creation of Air 001 responds to growing demand for leisure travel from Poland, where holidaymakers seek direct, cost-effective flights to sun-soaked resorts. The new charter carrier is positioned to capitalize on Poland’s recovering tourism sector, offering ITAKA’s customers exclusive seat allocations and flexible booking options. This strategic expansion aligns with broader industry trends of specialized carriers targeting niche markets.
Electra Airways, headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, operates a fleet of seven Airbus A320s and one A321, with two additional A320s in reserve. Specializing in ACMI wet-lease and charter services, Electra has built a reputation for reliability and responsiveness, serving airlines and tour operators across Europe and the Middle East. The partnership with ITAKA marks Electra’s first major initiative in the Polish leisure market.
ITAKA, Poland’s leading tour operator, serves millions of travelers annually with package holidays and bespoke travel solutions. The company leverages its robust distribution network and brand recognition to fill charter flights and create value-added holiday experiences. By launching Air 001, ITAKA gains greater control over flight schedules and availability, enhancing its competitive edge in providing seamless door-to-door vacation packages.
Bookings for Air 001 flights will open in early May, with promotional fares and holiday bundles announced on ITAKA’s website. As the new carrier prepares for its first summer season, travelers can look forward to a tailored charter product combining Electra’s operational excellence with ITAKA’s tour expertise, promising a refreshed travel experience built on reliability and brand synergy.
