Embark on a Journey Through Italy with the New La Dolce Vita Orient Express
The allure of the Orient Express, an emblem of luxury European rail travel since its inception in 1883, continues to enchant travelers with tales of elegance, mystery, and grandeur. Despite the decline of the original service in 2009 due to the rise of high-speed trains and low-cost airlines, the legendary train is poised for a glamorous comeback. The revival is led by Accor and Arsenale, in collaboration with Trenitalia Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Treni Turistici Italiani, heralding the launch of the La Dolce Vita Orient Express in Italy, slated to begin operations in spring 2025.
This opulent train invites passengers to traverse Italy’s picturesque landscapes on nine distinct itineraries that vary seasonally, including routes through Venice and Portofino, the adventure from Rome to Montalcino, and the exploration of Sicily and the Mediterranean. Each journey, lasting between two and three days, promises an immersive experience into Italy’s rich cultural tapestry and breathtaking sceneries.
La Dolce Vita Orient Express redefines luxury travel with its selection of 12 deluxe cabins and 18 suites, with prices commencing at $3,800 and $5,100 per person, respectively. Inspired by Italy’s golden era of the 1960s, the train’s design features mid-century aesthetics courtesy of Dimorestudio, showcasing vibrant terra-cotta hues, elegant brass details, and meticulously crafted interiors that echo the period’s artistic vibrancy.
Dining on board transcends mere sustenance, transforming into a celebration of Italian gastronomy. Passengers will indulge in exquisite dishes crafted by master chefs using locally-sourced ingredients, paired with Italy’s finest wines. The train also boasts a lounge and bar area, offering entertainment that pays homage to the artistic and creative spirit of the 1960s and 1970s.
Departing from Rome’s Ostiense station, travelers will be treated to a serene pre-boarding lounge experience. The train’s journey spans approximately 10,000 miles across Italy’s diverse landscapes, from the alpine north to the sun-kissed southern shores, including historic routes that reveal the country’s less-traveled countryside and vibrant cities like Venice and Rome.
Gilda Perez-Alvarado, CEO of Orient Express, expressed excitement about this new chapter in travel, emphasizing the blend of sophistication and adventure that La Dolce Vita Orient Express embodies.
It’s important to note that La Dolce Vita Orient Express should not be confused with the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, operated by Belmond and part of LVMH, which runs from London to Venice. This new venture marks a significant addition to the storied lineage of the Orient Express brand.
