Embraer Aircraft Deliveries Soar 33% as Private Jets Lead
Embraer has announced a notable increase in its aircraft deliveries, reporting a 33% rise year-over-year in its latest quarterly results, primarily driven by the strong demand for private jets. In a statement released on October 18, 2024, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer revealed that it delivered a total of 57 aircraft in the third quarter of 2024, compared to 43 in the same period the previous year. Of these, 16 were commercial jets, while the remaining 41 were executive jets, underscoring the robust demand in the business aviation market.
Private jet deliveries saw impressive growth, with a year-on-year increase of over 45% and a more than 50% rise compared to the third quarter of 2023. Among Embraer’s executive jet models, the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 led the charge, making up nearly half of the executive deliveries with 19 units combined. Meanwhile, the Phenom 300 continued to dominate as Embraer’s top-selling private jet, with 18 units delivered during the quarter.
In addition to private jets, Embraer’s Defense and Security division contributed significantly to overall growth. The division delivered two C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft: one to Hungary, marking the country’s first delivery of the C-390, and one to Brazil, representing the nation’s seventh aircraft in this line. The continued success of the C-390 program has helped strengthen Embraer’s presence in the global defense sector, as the versatile aircraft gains traction with military clients.
The third quarter saw Embraer’s company-wide order backlog reach $22.7 billion, with the Defense and Security segment contributing significantly to this figure. Defense and Security saw the largest backlog growth, with an additional $1.5 billion added during the quarter, demonstrating solid future demand for the C-390 and other military products.
In the commercial aviation segment, Embraer delivered 12 E2 family aircraft and four E1 models, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. The E2, known for its fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs, continues to gain favor with airlines seeking more environmentally friendly solutions for regional flights. Virgin Australia contributed to Embraer’s commercial success with a firm order for eight E190-E2 aircraft, bolstering the commercial aircraft backlog to $11.1 billion.
Embraer’s executive jet sector has shown strong growth potential, as the demand for private air travel remains robust amid the resurgence in luxury travel. The company’s diverse lineup, including the Praetor and Phenom series, has proven appealing for business travelers seeking efficient, high-performance options for private and business travel.
Embraer’s strategic focus on both private and commercial aviation, as well as its expansion in the defense market, positions it for sustained growth. The strong quarterly performance reflects Embraer’s resilience and ability to adapt to shifts in the aviation landscape, from private jet demand to evolving military needs. With its growing backlog and new orders, Embraer is on track to continue expanding its market presence across both civilian and defense sectors.
