Embraer Celebrates Milestone with Delivery of 1800th E-Jet to Royal Jordanian Airlines
Embraer has achieved a significant milestone in aviation by delivering the 1800th aircraft from its globally acclaimed E-Jet series. The notable E190-E2 jet, now part of Azorra’s fleet, was officially handed over to Royal Jordanian Airlines at the Embraer facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
This delivery marks the third E2 jet received by Royal Jordanian, which also operates four of the first-generation E-Jets. The airline is set to incorporate a total of eight E2s as part of the ongoing agreement.
Since the inception of the E-Jet program in 2004, these aircraft have become a staple in the fleets of 90 airlines and leasing companies across over 60 countries. The E190-E2, a member of Embraer’s advanced-generation of E-Jets, is celebrated for being the quietest, least polluting, and most fuel-efficient option in the sub-150 seat segment. Over the past 20 years, E-Jets have transported two billion passengers across 26 million flights, covering a cumulative distance of 140 million kilometers.
Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership with Embraer, stating, “We are delighted to participate in the milestone celebrations for Embraer and the E-jet program, recognizing the longstanding collaboration between Royal Jordanian and Embraer, supported by our valued partners at Azorra. The E2 family of aircraft supports our strategic aims and seamlessly integrates with our vision for regional connectivity and growth. This represents a pivotal role in our fleet modernization efforts, offering unmatched efficiency, flexibility, and passenger satisfaction. Together with Embraer and our esteemed partners at Azorra, we look forward to delivering an exceptional passenger experience, while contributing to a more sustainable aviation industry.”
John Evans, CEO and founder of Azorra, also commented on the milestone, saying, “For Azorra to be part of this significant event is a true honor and we thank Embraer and our friends at Royal Jordanian for their ongoing partnership. With our E2 order book and growing number of airline customers, we continue to see a bright future for these aircraft and the compelling efficiency, superior passenger experience, and clear economic advantages they provide.”
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, credited the longevity and success of the E-Jets program to Embraer’s dedication to excellence and continuous innovation. “It’s great to mark this milestone along with two key partners, RJ and Azorra,” Meijer said. He added that Embraer is committed to enhancing its aircraft continually, with plans to unveil numerous performance improvements for the E2 later this year, including its readiness to operate on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Meijer emphasized, “The E2 continues to demonstrate its advantages in terms of fuel burn, emissions, quietness, reliability, and passenger comfort, and airlines are taking notice.”
