Embraer to Invest $90M in Melbourne Jet Plant Expansion

Embraer plans to invest approximately $90 million to expand its executive-jet manufacturing facility at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, boosting production capacity for its Phenom and Praetor business jets. The announcement was made during the company’s second-quarter earnings call on August 5.
“The $90 million investment in our Melbourne facility is aimed at expanding Phenom 100EX and Phenom 300E production, as well as enlarging the pre-flight preparation area for the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600,” said Embraer spokesperson Lauren Merlino. The project will also add a paint preparation hangar capable of accommodating both aircraft families.
Since 2008, Embraer has invested more than $155 million in its North American business-jet campus at Melbourne, creating over 1,000 jobs through four development phases. The Phenom 100EV and Phenom 300E, which seat up to 11 passengers and crew, are fully assembled “nose to tail” at the facility.
Merlino noted the expansion will create high-skilled aviation jobs and reinforce Embraer’s commitment to the local community.
Embraer also reported its highest second-quarter revenue in company history at $1.8 billion. The company’s aircraft and services backlog reached a record $29.7 billion, including $7.4 billion in executive aviation.
