Emirates Adopts Airbus Skywise Software for Fleet Optimization

Dubai-based carrier Emirates has taken a major step toward enhanced operational efficiency by signing a new agreement with Airbus. On February 10, 2025, Emirates formalized its partnership for the implementation of Airbus’s Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+) software—a cutting-edge predictive maintenance and fleet health monitoring solution that incorporates the Core X3 analytics platform.
The new software system is set to significantly boost the overall performance of Emirates’ Airbus A350 and A380 fleets. By harnessing real-time aircraft performance and health data, the advanced Skywise Fleet Performance+ platform enables Emirates Engineering teams to monitor critical systems, identify potential issues in flight, and determine timely maintenance actions during aircraft turnarounds. This technology-driven approach aims to improve aircraft dispatch reliability while empowering strategic, data-driven decision-making across the carrier’s commercial fleet.
One of the key features of Skywise Fleet Performance+ is its automated pre-departure monitoring capability. The system continuously checks cabin temperatures, operations, and key aircraft systems using sophisticated analytics. It integrates data from the Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) to offer predictive diagnostics, issuing real-time alerts and solutions that help avert potential operational hiccups. Additionally, the Core X3 analytics platform provides Emirates Engineering with an intuitive user interface to manage vast amounts of operational data. This integration connects different systems into a single, up-to-the-minute source of insights, accessible by multiple teams across the organization.
“As a highly efficient, customer-centric operation, Emirates is always looking at ways to leverage leading-edge technologies that improve operational reliability and punctuality, minimize unscheduled downtime, and ensure our fleet operates at the highest standards, ultimately elevating the customer experience,” said Ahmed Safa, Head of Emirates Engineering. “Adopting Airbus’s Skywise Fleet Performance+ is a step forward to support our Airbus fleet, harnessing the latest advancements, and transforming traditional maintenance activities into streamlined, precision-led processes that optimize our time in the skies.”
Laurent Negre, Vice President of Customer Services Africa and Middle East at Airbus, added, “We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with Emirates through the implementation of Skywise Fleet Performance+ and Core X3. These solutions will enhance fleet performance and reliability, reduce downtime, and support operational efficiency that passengers will benefit from, too.”
Emirates Engineering has long been at the forefront of adopting aviation analytics and digital technologies to maximize fleet availability. The division is not only deploying predictive maintenance solutions but is also exploring innovative technologies such as drone-assisted aircraft inspections and the use of virtual and augmented reality for maintenance tasks. This forward-thinking approach underscores Emirates’ commitment to driving cost and network efficiencies across its fleet.
Emirates is the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380 superjumbo, boasting 118 aircraft, while it has recently introduced the first of 65 Airbus A350-900s into service. Overall, Emirates’ fleet includes 269 aircraft, comprising Boeing 777s, Airbus A380s, and A350s. The carrier’s engineering operations are conducted from a massive 400,000-square-meter facility at Dubai International Airport, featuring 12 hangars—the largest free-spanned structures in the Middle East. In 2023, Emirates further demonstrated its commitment to excellence by investing US$950 million in a new ultra-modern engineering facility at Dubai World Central Airport, set to become the largest of its kind in the region.
Through the implementation of Skywise Fleet Performance+ and Core X3, Emirates is poised to set new standards in fleet optimization and maintenance excellence, ensuring its aircraft remain reliable, efficient, and ready to deliver an outstanding passenger experience.
