Emirates and American Airlines Launch Historic New Routes to Australia
Emirates and American Airlines have each launched significant new routes to Australia, signaling strong global demand for travel to the region. On October 26, 2024, American Airlines inaugurated its longest route with the first nonstop service from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Brisbane Airport (BNE). The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight took 15 hours and 44 minutes, marking the first direct connection between Dallas and Brisbane. The return flight from Brisbane to Dallas took off on October 29, 2024.
Emirates, meanwhile, relaunched its Dubai (DXB) to Adelaide (ADL) route on October 28, completing its Australian network. The daily service on a Boeing 777-200LR offers 302 seats, including 38 in Business Class and 264 in Economy, accommodating over 220,400 passengers annually. This expansion brings Emirates’ total Australian operations to 70 weekly flights across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales, emphasized the importance of Australia, stating, “Australia remains a priority market for Emirates… our Adelaide service reinforces our commitment to expanding our Australia network.” He thanked the South Australian Tourism Commission and Adelaide Airport for supporting Emirates’ return to Adelaide, facilitating trade and offering seamless connectivity to over 140 destinations via Dubai.
From December 1, 2024, Emirates will further expand with a second daily service to Perth, increasing its weekly Australian flights to 77.
