Emirates celebrates Eid al Fitr with special menu and IFE offerings

Emirates has announced its special menu and in-flight entertainment (IFE) options in celebration of Eid al Fitr, which is expected to begin on 20 and 21 April. The new menu will feature regional flavours onboard and traditional Eid dishes in airport lounges while the IFE options will include new Arabic movies and content on the airline’s IFE platform ice.

From 21 April to 24 April, Emirates will offer an inflight menu of traditional Eid dishes including chicken mandi, fish harra, braised lamb with jameed and seafood machbouse in Economy; as well as fish matfy, chicken tahta, beef madfoon and Gulf-style braised lamb for Premium Economy, Business and First-Class passengers.

The onboard ‘sweet Eid’ dessert menu will feature a warm date pudding garnished with fresh berries, dates and pistachios in First Class; a vanilla sponge cake with white chocolate and hibiscus cream in Business and Premium Economy Class; and Batheetha or a sweet pumpkin Asseda topped with roasted cashew nuts in Economy Class. Emirates’ onboard A380 lounge will additionally offer a selection of Emirati pastries and Arabic coffee cake with fresh berries, dates and pistachios.

On 21 April, Dubai Airport will offer its First Class passengers a selection of lounge fare including Arabic coffee, jallab and kamarruddin juice, hot and cold Arabic mezzeh, lamb or Emirati ouzi as well as kunafa with pistachio and baklava ice cream. The lounges will additionally serve Eid mocktail creations such as the ‘Sumacgroni’ flavoured with red grapes, orange juice, bitter syrup, sumac powder and Zaatar leaves; and the ‘Coco Sahlab’, a combination of coconut cream, almond and agave syrup with a sprinkle of pistachio powder.

In the airport’s Business Class lounges, passengers will be offered shish taouk with harissa red pepper dip as well as more Eid mocktails including the ‘Rumman Cooler’ flavoured with rose and vanilla Ceylon tea and ‘Mint Blossom’, an apple, lemon and mint flavoured drink.

The lounges’ dessert offering will include mafroukeh pistachio, katayef walnut, asifiri ashta, baklawa pistachio fingers and a sweet cashew kol w shkor, with the option to visit Emirates’ old-fashioned ice cream cart in the lounge for its homemade Baklava and Arabic coffee ice cream, made specially for Eid celebrations.

Emirates will also offer special IFE options via its ice inflight entertainment for passengers travelling over Eid al Adha. The offering will include more than 100 Arabic films including new releases, 30 channels of Arabic television, 16 channels of Arabic podcasts and audio books, the Holy Qur’an and more than 500 channels of Arabic music including pop, classics Khaleeji, Maghrebi
