Emirates Celebrates Lunar New Year with Special Treats

As the Lunar New Year ushers in the Year of the Snake on January 29, 2025, Emirates is set to delight its passengers with an array of festive gifts and culinary delights both onboard and in its airport lounges. From January 28 to February 3, 2025, travelers on Emirates flights between Dubai and key destinations in Asia, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taipei, will be treated to exclusive Lunar New Year-themed offerings.

Passengers flying in Emirates’ first, business, and premium economy cabins on these routes will enjoy a specially crafted dessert: a lychee, rose, and raspberry mousse cake, layered with pâte sablée and white chocolate. Economy class travelers will savor a taro coconut sago adorned with sweetened fruits and red beans, adding a traditional touch to their in-flight dining experience. Additionally, on select routes and subject to availability, all passengers across every class will receive a traditional red envelope filled with chocolate coins, symbolizing the sharing of prosperity for the new year.

In parallel, Emirates’ airport lounges in Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong will embrace the Lunar New Year celebrations with specially curated menus. At Dubai International Airport, the first and business class lounges will feature a classic Chinese Cheung Fun steamed rice noodle roll stuffed with dried prawns and scallops for breakfast on January 29, 2025. Lunch and dinner menus for first class passengers will include soya glazed beef short ribs, while both first and business class guests can choose from dishes like poached shrimp and vegetable dumplings with soy and vinegar dip, Chinese rainbow salad with smoked salmon, sesame and soya ginger dressing, or pan-seared Chilean seabass with XO sauce and pak choy.

Dessert selections in the first class lounge will feature a strawberry lychee cake or a black sesame cake, while the business class lounges will offer a yuzu tartlet served with green tea powder. Moreover, a limited-edition Matcha green tea ice cream, crafted in-house by Emirates chefs, will be available to enhance the festive spirit.

The Emirates Lounge in Singapore will offer unique Lunar New Year dishes such as juicy king prawns infused with fragrant soya, pan-fried duck with lemon sauce, and orange almond crumble cake. In other lounges across East Asia, passengers can indulge in Chinese-themed fare including chicken soup with goji berries, assorted dim sum, steamed chicken in a tangy ginger soy sauce, stir-fried beef in black pepper sauce, sweet and sour Kung Pao prawn, beef dumplings, sweet and sour mandarin seabass with pineapple cubes and pine nuts, and wok-fried beef strips in a black pepper sauce. Desserts will include orange mousse cake or orange cake with sweet orange cream, Eight Treasure rice with lotus seeds, red dates, and osmanthus flowers, and traditional rice dumplings in fragrant osmanthus flower soup.

Emirates is also enhancing its in-flight entertainment offerings for the Lunar New Year, providing customers with a selection of 22 Mandarin and 13 Cantonese movies, alongside more than 350 Hollywood films with Chinese subtitles. The inflight entertainment system, ICE, will also feature a music library containing 115 Chinese albums and 1,000 songs, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit throughout their journey.
