The Thales AVANT Up system will offer a stunning in-flight entertainment experience. Emirates has selected its new in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for its incoming fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft. The Middle Eastern carrier has invested upwards of $350 million on the new Thales AVANT Up system to equip its new Airbus A350 aircraft, set to arrive from 2024. Let’s take a closer look at this story below.

Dubai-based carrier Emirates has revealed its new Airbus A350 fleet will be equipped with the AVANT Up in-flight entertainment system from Thales. The agreement with French-based Thales Group is worth over $350 million and will see the carrier’s 50 Airbus A350-900s furnished with the high-tech and efficient IFE system.

Adel al Redha, Chief Operating Officer at Emirates, said, “Emirates has always regarded inflight entertainment as an essential aspect of our onboard experience, and we were in fact the first airline to put personal screens onto every single seat onboard when that was far from the norm over 30 years ago. Today, Emirates ice remains unmatched in inflight entertainment content and experience, having won best-in-the-sky awards consecutively for the past 14 years. Our investment in next-generation Thales systems for our new A350 fleet will further our lead, enabling us to deliver even better experiences to our customers. Watch this space.”

The IFE system will offer 4K QLED HDR screens with over one billion colors, the only aircraft screens using Samsung’s QLED technology. Additionally, Emirates has opted for several add-ons as part of its package, including “highly integrated personalization features, expanded personal electronic device (PED) capabilities and user interface enhancements enabling visually impaired passengers to have an immersive experience.”

The system will host Emirates’ award-winning ice in-flight entertainment product, which offers over 5,000 multi-language channels, including box office movie releases, in-flight shopping and even live TV.
