Emirates has renewed its longstanding inflight entertainment (IFE) content partnership with BBC Studios. The new agreement, which commenced in May 2023, will bring an enhanced BBC-branded entertainment offering for Emirates passengers, with more than 250 hours of dramas, documentaries and factual entertainment, Natural History productions and pre-school programming added to ICE, the airline’s IFE system.

All BBC Studios content can be found in a dedicated BBC-branded area on ICE, which includes full series of popular scripted series and evergreen classic comedies such as the Blackadder historic comedy starring Rowan Atkinson, the award-winning police drama Happy Valley, starring Sarah Lancashire and James Norton, and Diplomat, a new crime series from the producers of Bodyguard and Line of Duty that lifts the curtain on the secretive world of diplomacy.

The BBC Earth section will include BBC productions including Frozen Planet II, Blue Planet II narrated by Sir David Attenborough and the much anticipated Planet Earth III.

And the CBeebies branded space will continue to keep pre-schoolers entertained on Emirates, now featuring presenter links, fun ideas and games for children and carers, and global hits like Bluey, Hey Duggee and Go Jetters.

The BBC News channel will remain in the Emirates offer, giving passengers access to the linear news channel onboard.

The agreement was brokered by two figures from Out of Home at BBC Studios: Zina Neophytou (vice president) and Peter Williams (account manager). Zina Neophytou said of the deal: “Emirates have been a key licencee of BBC Studios content for many years and we are very proud that our cooperation continues to grow and benefit our global audiences. This renewal gives Emirates passengers access to more hours of BBC content than ever before, and the new interface features introduced from May will help them navigate easily to their favourite shows onboard.”
