Emirates, Garuda Expand Loyalty Partnership

Emirates and Garuda Indonesia are taking their collaboration to new heights by expanding their current codeshare partnership to include a reciprocal loyalty agreement. This strategic move allows members of Emirates Skywards and GarudaMiles to earn and redeem miles seamlessly when traveling on either carrier, further enhancing the travel experience for frequent flyers across both networks.
The announcement was made at Aviation Festival Asia 2025 in Singapore during a high-profile signing ceremony attended by top executives from both airlines. Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates Skywards, and Rahmaniar, Miles & Ancillary Group Head of Garuda Indonesia, officially inked the deal in front of an audience that included industry leaders and aviation enthusiasts. This landmark agreement reflects a shared vision of creating a truly global loyalty experience for travelers around the world.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the significance of this collaboration in a statement. “This strategic collaboration aligns with Skywards’ vision of creating a truly global loyalty experience for our members worldwide,” he said. Kazim added that the partnership will open new doors for frequent flyers by enabling them to earn and redeem miles across the combined networks, while expanding the renowned loyalty offering in Southeast Asia. The initiative is expected to deliver even greater value to members by providing increased connectivity and more travel options.
Garuda Indonesia’s President & CEO, Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, also expressed enthusiasm about the new loyalty benefits. “Giving more opportunities to earn and redeem miles seamlessly across both networks globally, this initiative will unlock more destinations for our members,” he remarked. Panjaitan explained that Emirates Skywards members will now be able to explore Indonesia’s magnificent scenic landscapes and cultural diversity through Garuda Indonesia’s domestic flights. Conversely, GarudaMiles members can enjoy access to a wide array of international cities with Emirates’ extensive global connectivity.
Under the new agreement, Emirates Skywards members will benefit from the following enhancements: They can now earn up to one Skywards Mile per mile flown in Economy Class, 1.25 Skywards Miles per mile flown in Business Class, and two Skywards Miles per mile flown in First Class when traveling on Garuda Indonesia flights. Additionally, these miles can be redeemed for travel on Garuda Indonesia flights in both Economy and Business Class, with redemptions starting at as little as 8,000 Miles. This flexibility is designed to make every mile count and to unlock rewards faster for loyal members.
The agreement further solidifies the relationship between Emirates and Garuda Indonesia, which have already enjoyed a successful codeshare partnership. Emirates currently operates double daily flights to popular Indonesian destinations such as Jakarta and Bali using its iconic A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. This connectivity links Indonesian customers to more than 140 destinations worldwide, while simultaneously offering GarudaMiles members expanded opportunities to experience the renowned Emirates global network.
By expanding their codeshare and loyalty arrangements, both airlines aim to enhance customer satisfaction, boost travel options, and strengthen bilateral ties in a competitive global market. The reciprocal loyalty agreement represents a significant step forward in meeting the evolving demands of international travelers and underscores the airlines’ commitment to delivering premium, globally integrated travel experiences.
