Emirates Airlines has restarted daily passenger flights connecting Dubai and Lagos after a two-year suspension. The service was halted in October 2022 due to issues surrounding trapped funds and Nigeria’s inability to provide foreign currency for airlines to repatriate their profits. The first flight of the reinstated service took place on October 1, 2024.

Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Airlines, expressed excitement about the resumed operations, noting that it will help reconnect travelers to and through Dubai seamlessly. The daily flight, EK783, departs Dubai at 09:45 local time and arrives in Lagos at 15:20. The return flight, EK784, leaves Lagos at 17:30 and reaches Dubai at 05:10 the following day. The route is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The service is designed to optimize connections for travelers heading to destinations across Europe, the US, the Far East, and the Middle East, offering convenient transit options. Emirates also offers 48-hour and 96-hour Dubai visa options for Nigerian travelers.

Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, welcomed Emirates back to Nigeria, highlighting the country’s status as a key destination for global airlines. Emirates SkyCargo will also support Nigerian businesses with over 300 tons of weekly cargo space, shipping goods to the UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bahrain.

In return, Nigeria will receive imports from key markets such as the UAE, India, and Hong Kong, including general cargo, medicines, and electronics. Emirates’ return is expected to enhance both passenger travel and trade between Nigeria and Dubai, offering improved access to international markets.
