Emirates has added two leased Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft to its SkyCargo division, with the aim of increasing capacity on its Asian and North American routes.

The addition of the aircraft allows the airline to offer greater flexibility and makes Emirates one of the few operators of both the 747 and the Airbus A380.

As part of its broader strategy to double its capacity over the next decade, Emirates plans to add more jets, conversions, and increased belly-hold capacity in passenger jets.

The airline will also receive five new 777-200ERFs in 2024 and 2025, and 10 777-300ERs over the next five years. The 747s will operate on a long-term lease and are expected to remain in service for the foreseeable future.
