Emirates to Add 1,500 Pilots Over Two Years

Emirates has announced plans to welcome more than 1,500 new pilots over the next two years as the Dubai-based carrier continues its rapid expansion. Since early 2022, the airline has already onboarded nearly 2,000 pilots, and in 2025 alone it aims to recruit over 550 more through roadshows in more than 40 cities worldwide. Following successful recruitment sessions in Italy during April, Emirates’ team will visit Norway, Finland and Sweden in May, working toward growing its pilot roster beyond 4,600.
Central to Emirates’ talent pipeline is the Accelerated Command program, which fast-tracks experienced First Officers into Captain roles. Under this initiative, pilots must accumulate at least 700 flight hours in the right-hand seat and complete two Evidence Based Training recurrent modules. Once they demonstrate the required performance standards, they undergo an assessment and upgrade course that qualifies them to assume command of the carrier’s widebody fleet.
Emirates’ pilots enjoy a range of attractive benefits alongside competitive, tax-free salaries and profit-sharing. The airline provides life, medical and dental coverage as well as retirement plans. Pilots receive chauffeured luxury cars to and from work, and live in spacious villas within gated communities near the airline’s Dubai hubs. Annual leave of 42 days allows ample rest, while an advanced rostering system lets pilots bid for preferred flights and destinations to spend time with family.
Family travel is a cornerstone of Emirates’ pilot perks. Crew members can secure complimentary first- or business-class tickets for eligible family members, and benefit from deeply discounted fares for themselves, extended family and friends. This generous travel policy underscores the airline’s commitment to staff well-being as it scales up operations.
Emirates operates one of the youngest widebody fleets in the world, with 261 aircraft comprising Airbus A380s, Boeing 777s and A350s. As the airline grows its global network—from new destinations in Asia, Europe and the Americas to enhanced services on existing routes—the demand for skilled pilots has never been higher. Hiring roadshows in major aviation markets reflect Emirates’ strategy to tap into diverse talent pools and maintain its reputation for operational excellence.
Recruitment events feature interviews, simulator assessments and presentations on Emirates’ career pathways. Prospective pilots learn about the Accelerated Command program, the airline’s state-of-the-art training facilities and the extensive route network that has seen Emirates grow into one of the world’s leading international carriers. With each cohort of new pilots, the airline reinforces its readiness to meet rising travel demand and uphold the highest standards of safety and service.
As Emirates looks ahead to the next two years, its pilot hiring drive is a clear signal of confidence in long-term growth. By combining robust training, a generous compensation package and a supportive work environment, the airline aims to build a world-class team capable of flying its modern fleet to more than 140 destinations around the globe. For aspiring aviators, Emirates’ expanded recruitment efforts and accelerated career progression offer an unmatched opportunity to join the forefront of global aviation.
